"My message throughout this COP is clear: international climate cooperation is working. The world is now firmly in a new era – the era of implementation. The green transition is no longer a distant goal; it is the unstoppable path of global progress."
~ UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell
As COP30 progresses, a wide range of activities unfold each day—from high-level negotiations and technical sessions to side events and informal exchanges. These engagements drive global climate action while reinforcing the principles of multilateralism. By fostering dialogue, cooperation, and shared learning, COP30 builds trust, advances solutions, and strengthens the collective commitment to a sustainable future for all.
Negotiations
Global cooperation – with governments delivering on the UN Paris Agreement – is the only way to avert climate catastrophe, strengthen resilience, and spread the vast benefits of climate action. UN Climate Change works to facilitate global negotiations by providing platform for countries to collaborate, share perspectives, and reach consensus on ambitious actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change.
Finding Climate Solutions
While the central focus of all UN climate COPs are the formal negotiations, the COP also serves as a space for people to share ideas and contribute towards finding climate solutions. Through side events, meetings spaces, and informal activities, critical work takes place at COP to build momentum for informed and inspired climate action globally.

Building Capacity
Addressing climate change requires that people everywhere have the skills, knowledge, and information needed to respond effectively to its challenges and develop innovative solutions. Throughout COP30, a wide range of sessions focus on sharing tools, resources, and initiatives designed to strengthen individual and institutional capacity. By building expertise and enabling collaboration, these efforts help empower countries and communities to implement sustainable, long-term climate action.
Voices of Civil Society
Civil society plays a vital role in ensuring transparency, inclusivity, and accountability in the climate process. At COP30, space is provided for participants to peacefully demonstrate and share their views within the venue. These expressions strengthen multilateralism by ensuring broad participation and reminding all that effective climate action depends on dialogue among all sectors of society.
Building Relationships
While a variety of formal events take place throughout the day, COP30 also provides an important space for connection and collaboration. Across the venue, participants from diverse regions and sectors come together to engage, exchange ideas, and foster mutual understanding. These interactions—whether in meetings, exhibitions, or informal conversations—help build the relationships and trust that are essential for advancing effective and sustained climate action.
